小さな永遠への祝福

橘は厳しい冬にも耐えて常に葉を茂らせる様子から「永遠」を象徴するものとされ、また、日本の古事記においてはその実が永遠の命をもたらす霊薬ともされました。この作品では子供の火の鳥を橘の枝葉や花、実が取り囲んでおり、火の鳥のこれからの生涯を祝福しています。

（題名は万葉集の「橘(たちばな)は、実さへ花さへ、その葉さへ、枝(え)に霜(しも)降れど、いや常葉(とこは)の木」より）

Blessings for Little Eternity

Tachibana trees are considered a symbol of eternity because of their ability to endure harsh winters and continually produce lush leaves, and in Japan's Kojiki, their fruit is also said to be a miracle drug that grants eternal life. In this work, the young Firebird is surrounded by tachibana branches, leaves, flowers, and fruit, blessing the Firebird for its future life.

(The title comes from a poem in the Manyoshu)
