正月に飾る鏡餅に乗せてある橙。その音が「代々」に通じることからも、「代々栄える」「子孫繁栄」などを象徴する縁起物とされています。その橙が実る木の下をぐるぐると巡る狼たちの姿も、その恵みに終わりがないことを示します。

The bitter orange placed on top of the kagami mochi (rice cakes) displayed during the New Year is considered an auspicious item symbolizing "prosperity for generations" and "the flourishing of descendants," as the sound of the orange is similar to the Japanese word for "generation after generation." The image of wolves circling beneath the tree bearing these oranges also symbolizes the endless nature of this blessing.
