A scene of prayer in a white world

This masterpiece was unveiled at the solo exhibition "Myo Myo Go Nichi" held at Cafe Sketch in Sapporo in December 2020. Inspired by "shiro-e" (white painting), which originated from the white twill screens of the Heian period, the work was painted in solid white on a pale background. The landscape, which imitates the ancient shiro-e paintings that were created with a prayerful spirit, features towering rocky mountains, lush pine needles growing from drooping pine branches, and a giant phoenix dancing gracefully in the sky.

The main character in the world of the artworks in this exhibition is a ghost draped in cloth. It is a symbol of our own appearance. Even though we know that we exist here, we surprisingly do not know the full extent of our true identity.

But it's okay to be happy. This landscape is the world filled with blessings that the ghost will walk through from now on.
