見慣れぬ鳥

鷹は、「鷹の目」といった言葉もあるように、その優れた視力で獲物を探して狙う能力を持ち、速く飛ぶ飛翔力、獰猛さも備えており、文化によっては権力の象徴とされることもあります。そのような鷹が、「徳の高い君子の兆しとして出現する瑞鳥」とされる鳳凰と出会った時の場面です。この二羽が出会う時、お互いはそれぞれ、相手をどのように観察し、何を学び取ることだろうかと思います。

As the expression "hawk's eye" suggests, hawks possess the ability to hunt and target prey with their superior eyesight, as well as their speed in flight and ferocity. In some cultures, they are considered symbols of power. This scene depicts a hawk encountering a phoenix, an auspicious bird that is said to appear as a sign of a virtuous gentleman. When these two birds meet, one wonders how they observe each other and what they learn from each other.
